Leng Hong

Leng Hong is a celebrated Chinese-French artist, acclaimed for his exquisitely textured acrylic paintings, imbued with rich colors and a sense of mystery. His oeuvre spans various subjects, including landscapes, still life scenes, and portraits of court ladies from the Tang and Song Dynasties. Born in Shanghai in 1955, he graduated from the Shanghai Institute of Theatre and Dramatic Arts in 1978. While there, he mastered the Academic European tradition, becoming skilled in perspective, chiaroscuro, modeling, and social realism. He also studied traditional Chinese brush and ink painting, with a particular affinity for Tang and Northern Song landscape paintings. After moving to Bordeaux, France, in 1986, he experimented with blending these styles, drawing aesthetic inspiration from both traditions. Leng Hong currently resides in Montreal, Canada, and serves as an adjunct professor in the Department of Fine Arts at Shanghai University.
