Buddy’s Glee Club
Buddy’s Glee Club is a choir providing a therapeutic singing experience. The Glee Club has a long history at Baycrest beginning in 2012 as a research project in the Freeman Family Day Centre investigating the impact of group singing on older adults.* After demonstrating the many positive effects of group singing, the Glee Club continued at the day centre, and the research expanded to the Apotex to investigate the impact on older adults with cognitive impairment. ** More recently, Buddy’s Glee Club served the Baycrest@Home community online during the pandemic. Expertly led by a member of our music therapy team, this recreational program is currently offered in the Apotex and Mountainview Club day centre. The choir accommodates participants’ changing needs through a Community Music Therapy model. Buddy’s Glee Club is lovingly dedicated to the spouse of a generous donor, Margaret Nightingale.
